Parliamentary Rapid Response Team

Parliamentarians are on the front lines of democracy. It was an honour for Anita to have Irwin Cotler join the Parliamentary Rapid Response Team, with MPs from Malaysia, Ghana, Ecuador and many other countries around the world working together to defend human rights and democracy.

Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development

The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development studies matters related to international affairs, including Canada’s foreign policy and development assistance. The government department under the Committee's scrutiny is the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development.

The committee has completed study of Bill C-47 which will allow Canada to join the International Arms Trade Treaty. The committee is also undertaking several studies - a study on Counselor services and a study on Canada's relationship with Asia, a study on Canada's engagement in the Arctic, and a study on the developing situations in Somalia, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

7th June 2018: Anita asks a question of International Development & La Francophonie Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau regarding funding for international election observer missions.

6th June 2018: Anita asks a question of Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland about the situation in Venezuela.

Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics

The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics studies matters related to the Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and the Office of the Commissioner of Lobbying of Canada, and certain issues related to the Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner.

The committee is currently undertaking a study on Privacy and Digital Government Services.

29th May 2018: Anita questions Christopher Wylie during the Ethics Committee Investigation of the Data Breach Involving Cambridge Analytica and Facebook.

Anita was proud to chair the Special Committee on Pay Equity, which tabled its final report in June 2016. The report calls for proactive pay equity legislation that recognizes pay equity for men and women as a human right. Read the full report here:

Comité permanent des affaires étrangères et du développement international

Le Comité permanent des affaires étrangères et du développement international étudie les questions liées aux affaires internationales, notamment la politique étrangère et l'aide au développement du Canada. Le ministère soumis à l'examen du Comité est le ministère des Affaires étrangères, du Commerce et du Développement.

Le comité a terminé l'étude du projet de loi C-47 qui permettra au Canada d'adhérer au Traité international sur le commerce des armes. Le comité entreprend également plusieurs études - une étude sur les services de conseillers et une étude sur les relations du Canada avec l'Asie, une étude sur l'engagement du Canada dans l'Arctique et une étude sur les situations en développement en Somalie, au Sud Soudan et en République démocratique du Congo.

7 juin 2018 : Anita pose une question à la ministre du Développement international et de la Francophonie, Marie-Claude Bibeau, concernant le financement des missions internationales d'observation des élections.

Comité permanent de l'accès à l'information, de la protection des renseignements personnels et de l'éthique

Le Comité permanent de l'accès à l'information, de la protection des renseignements personnels et de l'éthique étudie les questions relatives au Commissariat à l'information du Canada au Commissariat à la protection de la vie privée du Canada et au Commissariat au lobbying du Canada, ainsi que certaines questions relatives au Commissariat aux conflits d'intérêts et à l'éthique.

Le comité entreprend actuellement une étude sur la vie privée et les services gouvernementaux numériques.

29 mai 2018 : Anita interroge Christopher Wylie lors de l'enquête du Comité d'éthique sur l'atteinte à la sécurité des renseignements personnels associée à Cambridge Analytica et Facebook.

Comité spécial sur l'équité salariale (Président)

Anita était fière de présider le Comité spécial sur l'équité salariale, qui a déposé son rapport final en juin 2016.
